About the App
Jezich² is a specialized web application designed for centralized coordination, tracking, and management of gift wishlists within family and social groups. The system aims to eliminate duplicate purchases and simplify logistics associated with organizing holidays, birthdays, and other social events.
The application is currently running in trial mode with a fully responsive interface, multi-language support, and advanced administrative tools for managing user accounts.
Detailed feature overview
Group Management — The application allows creating themed or time-bound groups (e.g., Christmas 2026). Access to groups is controlled via securely generated unique URL links with a defined validity period, which can also be distributed as QR codes. The interface includes an approval workflow for pending join requests, where the group administrator confirms new members.
Structured Wishlists — Users have personal profiles for recording desired items. Each wish supports metadata: exact name, estimated price, optional description, and a direct hyperlink to a specific e-shop. The system validates and shortens external links for a clean interface. Wishes can be organized by custom categories and priorities.
Aggregated Shopping List with Status Management — The app generates a consolidated overview of gifts a buyer has committed to purchase for other group members. This list functions as a dynamic to-do list. Items are linked to the group wish database — activating "Purchased" or "Remove" immediately updates the wish status, preventing multiple people from buying the same item without spoiling the surprise for the recipient.
Virtual User Management (Representing Children and Seniors) — The system addresses family members who lack their own digital identity, access to technology, or sufficient tech literacy. A user with admin role can create subordinate "virtual users." Children module allows parents to fully manage wishes for minors. Seniors module enables assisted management for older family members.
Impersonation Mechanism (Switching User Contexts) — For efficient virtual user management and advanced administration, the app features impersonation. An authorized user can switch the entire interface into the context of a selected virtual or real account with one click. This enables creating, editing, and deleting wishes on behalf of the represented person, checking group/item display from their perspective, and providing remote technical assistance without needing their password. Impersonation mode is visually indicated by a persistent system banner with an instant return option.
Internationalization and Localization (i18n) — The application is fully localized in Czech and English. Language switching is available via controls in the app header, with the user's preference stored in their cookie for future sessions.
Group Deadlines and Locking — Group administrators can set automatic deadlines. When a deadline passes, reserved items can be automatically cleared, reserved wishes deleted, or all wishes removed. Additional locks can prevent new wishes or reservations from a specific date onward. Future deadlines are displayed with a live countdown and the page auto-refreshes when they are reached.
